DEVEN JOHNSON

Baritone  

Deven L. Johnson is a recent graduate of Berkeley Center for the Arts at Goose Creek High School. While at Berkeley Center for the Arts, Deven was an honors student and BCA Voice completer. Deven's choral experience includes acceptance to the South Carolina All-State Chorus (2023), the Wingate All-Carolina Chorus (2022), the Chamber Choir of the National Organization of Kodály Educators (2023), and the Berkeley All-County Chorus (2020, 2022, 2023). A member of the illustrious Goose Creek High School Chamber Choir, Deven served three years as a Section Leader, and his accolades include Outstanding Sophomore and Most Valuable Tenor (2021), and Outstanding Tenor/Bass Voice (2022, 2023). He was also a founding member of Berkeley County School District's inaugural contemporary a cappella group, Creekappella. 

 

Deven's music theatre experience includes Understudy for Jean Valjean in Les Misérables (2019), Linus in You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown (2021), Understudy for Jean-Michel & Prince Topher/Ensemble in Rodgers & Hammerstein's Cinderella (2021), and the Cowardly Lion/Zeke in The Wizard of Oz (2022). Other theatrical experience includes Lighting Technician for Romeo & Juliet (2023) and Mr. Reed in These Shining Lives (2022). In fall 2023, he will attend Furman University to study Vocal Performance/Music Composition. Deven is a recipient of the Herring Music Fellowship and the Bell Tower Scholarship.
