KYLIE SMOAK

Alto

Kylie Smoak serves as co-band director at Oakbrook Middle School. She is an active staff member with the Fort Dorchester High School Band, serving as the marching band’s woodwind tech in the fall and leading a clarinet choir in the spring. A graduate of the University of South Carolina, she studied the clarinet under Professor Joe Eller and played bass clarinet with the university’s top wind ensemble for several years. She also studied choral performance under Dr. Johnny Felder in 2019.

Kylie played clarinet in the university marching band, the Mighty Sound of the Southeast, for two years and served as drum major for three years. She also played trumpet in the Carolina Basketball Band and in one of the School of Music’s jazz bands, Swing Shift. She currently remains active in her own musicianship as an alto in the Old St. Andrew's Parish Choir, a clarinetist in the Charleston Wind Symphony, and a private clarinet lesson teacher. She is an avid Gamecock fan, a coffee fanatic, and a proud dog- and cat-mom.
