
ANGELA VARNON
Soprano/Alto
Angela is currently the choir director at Fort Dorchester High School. She holds a Master of Music from the University of South Carolina in Choral Conducting and a Bachelor of Music from the University of Tennessee. She has been teaching vocal and piano lessons to a combination of classroom and private students for 7 years.
In addition to her work as a teacher, Angela appears frequently in staged productions as a pianist, conductor, and performer. Past work incudes several seasons as a chorister with the Knoxville Opera Chorus, pianist for productions such as Pippin, Crazy for You, and Let it Be, and she is currently music directing for The Flowertown Players (The Spitfire Grill).
She is actively developing her composition skills and is proud to be included in composer Jocelyn Hagen’s Compose Like a Girl mentorship program. Angela’s recent work has been premiered by The Sandlapper Singers (Columbia, SC) and Patriot Chorale at FDHS.
Angela’s professional affiliations include South Carolina chapter of the American Choral Director’s Association (SCACDA), South Carolina Music Educators’ Association (SCMEA), American Choral Directors’ Association (ACDA), and The International Kodály Society (IKS).
She lives in Summerville with her family and they enjoy exploring the world together.
