DAVID E. A. ACRES
MUSIC DIRECTOR

David Acres joined the choir of Exeter Cathedral, England in September 1960 as a probationer, where he was instructed in music theory, piano and voice by Lionel Dakers, Director of Music at Exeter Cathedral and, then after, Director of the Royal School of Church Music at Addington Palace, Greater London. David was appointed Head Chorister of the Cathedral choir in 1965, and during his tenure became the primary soloist, taking part in multiple recordings and broadcasts (one of which, “Christmas Music”, is still available today!). JUDITH O. ACRES
EXECUTIVE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR

Praised for her "excellence of style and ease of expression," Charleston native and soprano Dr. Judith Acres is at home with a repertoire ranging from medieval song to Baroque opera and oratorio to American musical theater. Her performances have taken her across North America and the UK, appearing as featured soloist with a number of leading period and modern ensembles and orchestras and as presenter, guest artist and faculty at a variety of international workshops and festivals. GREGORY PITTMAN
ASSISTANT DIRECTOR

Gregory Pittman is an award-winning music educator in Lexington County, South Carolina. As a choral conductor in South Carolina and Texas, his choirs have earned Superior ratings in adjudicated festivals and his students routinely earn acceptance into auditioned honor choirs throughout the Southeast. He is a 2017 GRAMMY Music Educator Award nominee and is a Past President of the South Carolina Music Educators Association Choral Division. From 2004 to 2011, he was Adjunct Professor of Music at Charleston Southern University where he taught voice, music education, music appreciation, and directed CSU’s men’s choir. In addition to his work as a choral conductor, Mr. Pittman has produced and directed the music for musicals such as My Fair Lady; Les Misérables; You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown; and Little Shop of Horrors.

PAUL THOMAS
ASSOCIATE MUSIC DIRECTOR

& ORGANIST

Paul Thomas is the recently appointed Director of Music of St Paul’s Episcopal Church in Chattanooga, TN. He earned the Master of Music degree in organ performance and Certificate in Church Music Studies from the Yale School of Music and Institute of Sacred Music, where he studied organ with Thomas Murray and organ improvisation with Jeffrey Brillhart. While at Yale, he received the Richard Paul DeLong prize for the student “whose work best exemplifies the dedication and the use of those special gifts required of practicing church musicians.” His undergraduate studies were at Furman University, where he studied organ with Charles Tompkins.
