About the Event

Mary was Queen Regnant of Scotland from 14-December, 1542, to 24-July, 1567, and was Queen Consort of France from 1558 to 1560. From her early days in France, where she married the Dauphin in 1558, through her disastrous relationship with Queen Elizabeth I of England, her first cousin once removed, The King's Counterpoint presents a concert event that traces Mary's eventful, turbulent life and her tragic rise and fall through the music of her time.

The Life and Times of Mary, Queen of Scots is a concert filled with glorious choral works of the day, interleaved with readings from Mary's own letters and poems. With compositions from England, France, Spain, Scotland, and The Netherlands, including works by Clemens non Papa, Palestrina, Johnson, Tallis, Byrd, Alonso Lobo, and Jacquet de Mantua, this wonderful event is a concert you simply won't want to miss!
